UNDER 8 - 11 PLAYER ASSESSMENTS

The Under 8 - 11 program at Edmonton Southwest United is designed to prioritize enjoyment, confidence, and foundational skill development. At this stage, our focus is on age-appropriate learning through play, ball mastery, and building tactical awareness through small-sided games in a positive team environment.

Where registration numbers and coaching resources allow, SWU’s intent is to keep players within the club, forming rosters that support learning and participation rather than early selection or release.

UNDER 12 - 19 PLAYER ASSESSMENTS

The U12–U19 program at Edmonton Southwest United Soccer Club is grounded in long-term player development, appropriate competitive challenge, and alignment with each player’s stage of growth and commitment. Programming is structured to support multiple competitive tiers, recognizing that players progress at different rates and benefit from environments matched to their current needs. Team formation considers technical ability, game understanding, physical development, and overall readiness for competition.

While the club works to form viable rosters and provide pathways within the program wherever possible, placement decisions at these ages are influenced by competitive requirements, registration numbers, and coaching resources, and retention cannot always be guaranteed. SWU remains committed to a fair, transparent process that prioritizes development, meaningful participation, and respect for players and families throughout the evaluation process.
