From first touches to full-sided play, SWU is committed to providing a clear, developmentally appropriate pathway that supports players at every stage of their soccer journey.

The Under 13–19 stage marks an important milestone in a player’s development — the transition to full-sided 11v11 soccer. At SWU, this transition is introduced thoughtfully and progressively, ensuring players are physically, technically, and tactically prepared for the demands of the full game.

In alignment with Canada Soccer’s development framework, training and match environments at these ages emphasize:

• Game understanding and decision-making

• Technical execution under pressure

• Positional awareness and team structure

• Continued enjoyment and confidence on the ball

While competition becomes more formal, long-term player development remains the priority. Training sessions are structured to support growth, with an appropriate balance between practices and matches, and qualified coaches guiding players through increasingly complex game concepts.

As players mature, they are challenged within environments that promote accountability, resilience, and teamwork — without losing sight of individual development. Playing time, player roles, and competitive placement are managed responsibly to support learning and progression rather than short-term results.

The move to 11v11 is not just about a bigger field — it’s about helping players understand the game more deeply, preparing them for higher levels of play, and supporting their continued love for soccer through adolescence.
