Grassroots Program

At Edmonton SWU, our Grassroots (U4–U7) program is designed to spark a lifelong love of the game through fun, movement, and play. In alignment with Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Standards, sessions focus on age-appropriate activities, free play, and simple games that maximize touches on the ball and encourage creativity.

Players participate in small-sided, informal games that emphasize enjoyment, confidence, and basic motor skills rather than outcomes or scores. Training environments are safe, inclusive, and engaging, with qualified coaches guiding children through activities that suit their attention span and stage of development.

At this age, soccer is about exploration — building comfort with the ball, learning to move, and having fun with friends in a positive, pressure-free environment.
