Under 10 - 12
Developmental Program
SWU’s Developmental (U10–U12) program reflects the transition toward more advanced learning while remaining fully aligned with the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards. Training and match play are structured to challenge players appropriately, using small-sided formats that support technical growth, game understanding, and decision-making. Match play occurs within the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association league structure.
Players benefit from a clear emphasis on:
-
Skill development through training
-
Fair playing time
-
Balanced competition
-
Qualified, development-focused coaching
While league play may be introduced, match results are never the primary focus. Instead, players are encouraged to solve problems, take risks, and continue developing their confidence on the ball. Team formation and player movement prioritize long-term development, not early selection or specialization.
This stage lays the foundation for future soccer experiences — ensuring players are motivated, capable, and excited to continue their journey in the game.
