Introduction

Southwest United Sports Club is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This document outlines our practices for collecting, using, disclosing, and protecting personal information.

 

Definitions

Personal Information: Any information about an identifiable individual, including name, age, contact details, ID numbers, and any other data assigned to an individual.

    • SWU is responsible for all personal information under its control. We have designated a Privacy Officer to ensure compliance with PIPA and to address any privacy concerns.

  2. Identifying Purposes

    • We will identify and document the purposes for which personal information is collected at or before the time of collection.

  3. Consent

    • Personal information will only be collected, used, or disclosed with the individual's informed and voluntary consent, except where legal exceptions apply.

    • Consent can be withdrawn at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.

  4. Limiting Collection

    • The collection of personal information will be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by the club. Information will be collected by fair and lawful means.

  5. Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

    • Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law.

    • Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.

  6. Accuracy

    • Personal information will be maintained as accurately, completely, and up-to-date as necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used.

  7. Safeguards

    • Personal information will be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

    • Measures will include physical security, administrative controls, and electronic safeguards like encryption and secure servers.

  8. Openness

    • SWU will make readily available to individuals specific information about its policies and practices relating to the management of personal information.

  9. Individual Access

    • Upon request, an individual shall be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information and shall be given access to that information.

    • Individuals can challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.

  10. Challenging Compliance

    • An individual can address a challenge concerning compliance with the above principles to the designated Privacy Officer at SWU.
