About the Team

The Southwest United 96 boys’ team strives to excel through commitment, hard work and a passion for the game. The team has achieved significant success - including EIYSA outdoor champions (2006 through 2009) and provincial medals (2007 outdoor – silver, 2007/2008 indoor – silver, 2008 outdoor – bronze) as well as numerous medals in tournament play. Several members of the team have been selected to Team Alberta (U13, U14 and U15 levels) and represented the province in national and international tournament play.

During the 2011 outdoor season, in addition to 2-3 practice sessions each week and regular league games, the team participated in a number of other soccer activities including:

• pre-season technical training session provided by the club’s technical staff.
• being a feature team with the University of Alberta Green & Gold Soccer Academy.
• a weeklong training camp with coaches from the Rangers Football Club’s youth program and European Coerver Training.
• a local tournament.

The indoor season will be an important developmental season as the team prepares for its U16 Tier 1 outdoor season in 2012. The team is also considering an international trip during the March break.
