Seven players from the SWU 1994 Girls squad were members of the Alberta U16 Provincial team that earned a BRONZE medal at the 2010 BMO National Championships Nutrilite All Stars held in St. John's, Newfoundland from July 21 to 25. San Diego Surf College Cup
Southwest United 1994 Girls competed in the San Diego Surf College Cup in November in the U16 Gold division. The team played 3 games and ended up with 3 ties (0-0, 0-0 and 1-1). It was an excellent experience for the team to play against some very physical, fast-paced teams. The girls responded very well and played some fine soccer!

Indoor Season
Welcome to all returning and new players to the 1994 Girls Southwest United team. We've had a great start to our season with a tournament in Vancouver, BC over the Thanksgiving weekend. Playing up 2 years, the squad earned the GOLD medal at the North Shore Girls tournament. Four games and four victories...3 shut outs with only 1 goal scored over the weekend. The team played very well. Our defensive game remains the strength of our play. Our attacking game is becoming versatile and effective. We look forward to our next challenge at the San Diego Surf College Cup at the end of November.

Outdoor Season
The outdoor season has been very busy for the team. We have completed 10 of our 15 league games and have 9 wins and 1 tie. On the "excellence" front, a number of our players have earned spots on either Provinicial or Summer Games teams. One player was on the U13 North Development squad that competed in Montana in early July. Another five players earned spots on the U14 Alberta Provincial team and will be competing in All-Star National tournament during the 3rd week of July. Another 4 players are competing in the upcoming Alberta Summer Games in Medicine Hat in early August. Great achievements!

2007-08 Indoor Season Summary          Final Standings
The 2007-2008 indoor season has seen the girls mature both as players and people. The girls have gained an appreciation of what it takes to be successful on the soccer pitch and in life.

The indoor season started out with the girls traveling to Vancouver to participate in the Girls' North Shore Tournament. This was a great learning experience for the girls, as they played in the rain and with less than a full compliment of players due to injuries.

Although the girls placed first in their Futsal league, the focus of the indoor season was on preparing for the upcoming outdoor season. Training sessions were devoted to technical training, tactical training (outdoor), SAQ (speed - agility - quickness) and mental training.

An indication of how well the team was preparing for the outdoor season was evident in the Saskatoon Premier Tournament the team attended in January. The girls showed well in the U16 division (against girls two years older).

2007 Outdoor Season - Awesome!
The team enjoyed playing up against 1993 girls and were a win away from advancing to playdowns. Other highlights this season included the BFUT camp, the St. Albert Girls' Tournament and the Adidas Evergreen Tournament in Washington, USA. The experience the girls gained this season will help prepare the team for playing at the next level and for future challenges.
