Frequently Asked Questions

What is the clubs policy on playing time?

The clubs policy is FAIR playing time. Before every season, the coaching staff for each team should provide a clear philosophy on playing time to players and parents. During the season, coaches should provide feedback to players and parents related to the amount of playing time. Coaches should be open to discussions around issues related to playing time with any player or parent.

What is the Technical Director's role?

The Technical Director (TD) is either an individual or organization responsible for guiding the development of players and coaches within the Club. The Technical Director also facilitates coaching development by providing game and training session analyses.

Who should I speak to if I have a concern?

First, talk to your child's team manager or coach. Then, discuss with the team technical director. If the issue persists, contact the SWU Vice President or President. Contact informaton is available on the team pages and Contact Us.

I am interested in coaching at SWU. Who do I contact?

Express your interest by contacting Mel Snihurowych, SWU president.

Major Fundraising Activities and Major Fund Accounts

Bottle drives, silent auctions and grocery voucher sales are some of the many fundraisers that can be organized by individual teams. Teams must obtain approval from the SWU Board prior to beginning any fundraising activity. This will allow the club to make sure that conflicts and duplication of efforts do not occur. In some cases a provincial license may be required.

Funds received from major fundraising activities must be submitted immediately to the Club. The Club will then issue a receipt for the funds received and the funds will be placed in an individual bank account (Major Fund Account) under the Club's name (for use by the team). These funds will be distributed back to the team upon request with appropriate supporting documentation.

Teams must complete and submit a Fundraising Approval Request Form (Download PDF)(Download Excel) prior to the activity. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to complete the form. Forms should be emailed to fundraising@swu.ca.
