Let’s Get It Started Spring Training Sessions

Southwest United hosted Let’s Get It Started spring training for all players
at the Fuhr Park Sports Facility in Spruce Grove on April 28 and 29. Under the direction of the club's experienced and dynamic technical coaching staff, training themes followed the CSA’s LTPD model of age appropriate training. A great way for all players to start the outdoor season!

Coaching Opportunity: SWU 1999 Girls
A female assistant coach is wanted for a committed, focused yet fun and well-bonded ‘99 SWU girls’ team beginning in 2012 outdoor season. One of the top teams in Edmonton at the 99 level, this team emphasizes technical, tactical, physical development and exposure to high level tournaments in Canada and USA. We are looking for an assistant coach with soccer experience who is patient, calm in game situations, energetic, and open minded about the game and their role. The candidate would have the opportunity to learn directly from a national licenced coach/technical director and would be encouraged to take coaching courses to become licensed themselves. Experience playing at a competitive level is preferred. Commitment required is 2 – 3 times a week with practices usually on the south side of Edmonton. Contact Technical Director Jorge Molina at jorgemolina@shaw.ca.   View the 1999 Girls' team page.

In 2011, the Southwest United Sports Club was fortunate to receive a grant of $16,036.70 from
the Government of Alberta's Culture and Community Services COMMUNITY SPIRIT program. Funds will be used to offset the cost of training facilities and technical trainers.
